Feeling Safe with the Ones We Love

The hive felt a little different tonight — softer, quieter, slower. Grace the Bee could tell her whole family felt it too. Some days just have that feeling… like everyone is carrying something a little heavy in their hearts.

Grace’s mom noticed her sitting alone near the honey shelf and asked gently,
“Hard day, sweetheart?”

Grace nodded.
“I felt sad on and off all day… and I didn’t know what to do.”

Mom Bee wrapped her wings gently around her. “Sadness happens to every bee,” she whispered. “But we don’t have to feel it alone.”

Soon Dad Bee and Buzzby joined them. They didn’t try to fix Grace’s feelings or tell her to cheer up. Instead, they gathered for something they called
“Hive Heart Time.”

They sat in a cozy circle, drinking warm honey tea. One by one, each bee shared something small about their day — something that made them smile, and something that felt heavy.

Grace listened carefully. She realized that everyone, even the bees she thought were always happy, had moments of sadness too.

Then it was her turn.
“I felt sad,” she said softly. “But being here with you makes me feel… safer.”

Dad Bee squeezed her hand.
“Sadness grows smaller when hearts gather close.”

The whole family felt a little lighter — not because their sadness disappeared, but because they were sharing it together.

🍯 Family Activity – Hive Heart Time

This evening, try this comforting family routine:

1️⃣ Gather together in a cozy spot
2️⃣ Each person shares:
💛 One good moment
🌧️ One hard or sad moment
3️⃣ Listen with kindness — no fixing, no judging
4️⃣ End with a group hug, hand squeeze, or smile

This reminds everyone that feelings — all of them — can be shared safely.

💛 Grace’s Family Thought

“Sadness feels smaller when hearts gather close.”
